The Ohio attorney general appointed Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, LLC, to serve as lead counsel for lead plaintiffs Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio and the class in this securities fraud class action against Fannie Mae, three former senior officers of Fannie Mae and KMPG (Fannie’s former auditor). MSD settled this case for $153 million.
  • Williams v. Duke Energy International, Inc., United State District Court, Southern District of Ohio, No. 1:09-cv-00046. Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, LLC was lead counsel in a complex antitrust and Civil Rico class action against a regional energy provider resulting in an $80,875,000 settlement, with more than $50 million being distributed via direct cash payments to individuals and businesses throughout Southwest Ohio.
  • In re Choice Care Litigation, United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Western Division. Bill Markovits of MSD served as one of the lead trial attorneys for a class of Ohio physicians in a securities fraud, antitrust and RICO class action litigation. Through Bill’s steady efforts, a jury awarded his clients over $100 million.
  • In re Toyota Motor Corp. Unintended Acceleration Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation, United States District Court, Central District of California, MDL No. 2151. MSD’s attorneys participated a counsel for the economic loss class action plaintiffs, including assisting in defending several class representatives’ depositions, resulting in a settlement valued at over $1.6 billion.
