Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, LLC is investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Hyundai Motor America, Inc. (“Hyundai”) related to alleged defects in Hyundai Palisade vehicles equipped with leather seats or trim that have a model year of 2020, 2021, or newer.
According to a recent lawsuit filed in Minnesota federal court, the headrests in these Hyundai Palisades emanate a pungent odor described by consumers as smelling like “rotten seaweed, garbage, garlic, rotten produce,” “onion,” “old worn socks,” and “extreme bad breath.”[1]
It has been reported that the odor is stronger when the Palisade is exposed to higher temperatures and sunlight.[2]
According to the lawsuit, Hyundai has failed or refused to provide any permanent solutions to consumers, or remedy the issue by replacing the defective components.[3] The lawsuit further alleges that had Palisade owners known about the odor at the time of sale or lease, they would not have purchased or leased the Palisades or would have paid significantly less for them.[4]
